INTRODUCTION

THIS BLOG HAS BEEN CREATED WITH THE PURPOSE OF HELPING YOU TO GET YOUR B1 LEVEL OF ENGLISH. EVERYBODY WHO IS STUDYING A DEGREE NOWADAYS KNOWS THAT YOU NEED TO BE QUALIFIED IN B1 LEVEL OF ANY EUROPEAN LANGUAGE IN ORDER TO GET YOUR DEGREE. SINCE I AM A SECUNDARY TEACHER OF ENGLISH, I WILL TRY TO PROVIDE AS MUCH INFORMATION AND MANY RESOURCES AS POSSIBLE IN THIS BLOG.

 

MAINLY THIS BLOG WILL BE FULL WITH EXERCISES WHICH WILL LEAD YOU TO DEVELOP YOUR READING, WRITING, AND LISTENING SKILLS. SPEAKING MATERIALS WILL BE ALSO PROVIDED AND EXPLAINED.

 

PET stands for PRELIMINARY ENGLISH TEST, it is a cambridge exam, and therefore it is a bit expensive, about 100 euros at the moment, you need to get 70% of the exam right to pass and get your B1 in english. If you marks are under 70, you get a A2 in english. It is a qualification recognised worldwide.

 

The test consists of 4 parts: READING, WRITING, LISTENING AND SPEAKING,  each part is 25% marks of the total exam.

 

READING: 5 parts. All consist of reading comprehension questions, except for part 5 which is a little more difficult since you have to know more grammar. This last exercise consists of filling the gaps of a text, it is a multiple choice exercise.

 

WRITING: 3 parts.  Part 1 is a rewrite exercise, you will have to know some grammatical strategies.  In part 2 you should write a short letter, and in part 3 is a longer letter, for the two letters some clues are provided.

 

LISTENING: 4 parts.  Part 1, tick the right picture. Part 2, tick the right answer.  Part 3, fill the gap in a text, and part 4, true or false.

 

SPEAKING: 4 parts. Part 1, personal questions.  Part 2, interaction between your partner and you, you will have to make a decision from a variety of things, activities, etc.  Part 3, you will have to describe a photo.  Part 4, you both will be asked  to talk together about a topic related to the photo.

 

YOU HAVE 1H 30MIN TO DO THE READING AND WRITING. THE LISTENING TAKES 30 MIN, AND THE SPEAKING ABOUT 12-13 MIN.
